Abu Dhabi’s ADNOC and ADPower issue RfP for 3.2 GW HVDC subsea transmission system

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and ADPower have jointly issued a request for proposals for the development and operation of a 3.2 GW high voltage direct current (HVDC) subsea transmission system, which will connect ADNOC’s offshore production facilities to ADPower’s onshore grid network. The project aims to reduce the carbon footprint of ADNOC’s offshore facilities by up to 30 per cent and also meet its future offshore power needs. The commercial operation of the project is expected in 2025.
