Bahrain’s Electricity and Water Authority has awarded the US-based GE Grid Solutions a contract worth BHD 11.2 million for the establishment of the new System Control Centre (SCC). The new SCC will replace the existing SCC that was constructed in the 1980s, which underwent several upgrades to meet network expansions. The existing SCC will be converted into an Emergency Control Centre, to be used as a backup in case of emergencies. The contract will be implemented under two work packages, namely, the supervisory control and data acquisition system work package and the building work package for the SCC.
