The MoP has notified an amendment regarding the eligibility of power plants for participation in the SHAKTI coal auctions. As per the amendment, all power plants that do not have power purchase agreements (PPAs) will be allowed to participate for auction of coal linkages for a short term (maximum up to one year) with conditions specified in the methodology. Earlier, captive power plants were excluded from auctions and developers needed an untied capacity of over 50 per cent to participate in the auction.
