Siemens Gamesa to supply direct drive wind turbines for Taiwan project

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy expects to supply the new SG 14-222 direct drive offshore wind turbine at the upcoming 300 MW Hai Long 2 project in Taiwan. The deployment of the new turbine is also being considered for the rest of the 1,044 MW capacity in the pipeline. The exact number of units for the first 300 MW of the project will be confirmed, based on site-specific conditions. The final investment decision will be taken by the consortium developing the project, comprising the Canadian independent power producer Northland Power, Inc. and Taiwan-based developer Yushan Energy, jointly owned by Mitsui & Co. Limited in Japan, and Yushan Energy Private Limited in Singapore. The Hai Long offshore wind power plant was awarded through the 2018 grid allocation mechanism in Taiwan.
