EPIC to build S$2.35 billion coal power plant in Laos

The Laos government has approved the construction of a 1,000 MW coal power plant in the country by a Singapore based Evolution Power Investment Corporation (EPIC).

This will be the second coal-fired power plant in the country and is a collaboration between EPIC and Lao firm, Khounmixay Bridge and Road Construction and Repair Company (KMX). The plant will export power to Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. The plant worth Rs $1.7 billion (S$2.35 billion) is proposed to be developed in Sekong.
