Japan’s JERA to form floating wind farm JV with France’s ADEME and Ideol

Japanese power producer JERA has partnered with France’s state-owned investment company ADEME Investissement and the French wind energy provider Ideol for forming a joint venture (JV) to build floating offshore wind farms.

The two companies plan to enter a formal agreement by the end of 2020 to collectively set up a fund to finance the construction process of at least 2 GW of floating offshore wind projects using the technologies of Ideol. Their aim is to involve the JV in the development of several floating wind farms worldwide over the next 5 years, with plans to tender for future projects in Scotland and France in early 2020s.
