TPDDL reduces over 150,000 manual visits for meter reading during lockdown

During the lockdown, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) has prevented more than 150,000 manual meter-reading visits by its employees through around 200,000 smart meters installed in its distribution area.

During the April-May lockdown months, the smart meters helped raise more than 350,000 electricity bills based on actual readings, rather than provisional ones, and prevented more than 150,000 visits to consumer premises. Under its advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) project, TPDDL has deployed about 200,000 smart meters across domestic, industrial and commercial consumer categories.
