Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (Tangedco) plans to purchase 500 MW from the PTC India (PTC) to meet the demand in the state in 2020-21.
Tangedco will be purchasing the power from PTC India for three years at Rs 3.26 per unit. TNERC has approved the proposal. PTC will supply power from various private thermal power generation companies, which have the capacity but have not signed any power sales agreement with any discom. Tamil Nadu is estimated to face a power shortage of 2,396 MW in the current year due to delay in commissioning of its new thermal projects
