CIL to invest Rs 160 billion for modernisation

CIL is planning to invest Rs 160 billion for modernisation to increase the efficiency of coal transportation and computer-aided loading.

CIL has identified 14 additional projects for its first mile connectivity initiative (FMC) under Phase II. CIL’s four subsidiaries will together infuse a tentative capital of over Rs 34 billion in these projects, which have a total of 100.5 million tonnes (mt) capacity. CIL is currently implementing FMC under Phase I across 35 projects each having 4 mt capacity and above, across six of its subsidiaries with a capital outlay of Rs 123 billion and overall project capacity of 406 mtpa. Reportedly, the 49 projects under both phases will have a total capacity of 506.5 mt.  (Central Sector)
