750 MW Rewa solar project in Madhya Pradesh inaugurated by PM

The 750 MW solar project set up at Rewa, Madhya Pradesh was inaugurated on July, 10 2020 by the Prime Minister via video-conferencing.

The project, which is touted to be Asia’s largest, comprises three solar generating units, 250 MW each, is spread over 1,590 acres. Mahindra Renewables, ACME Solar Holdings, and Solengeri Power emerged as the winners for the project’s three units at tariffs of Rs 2.979, Rs 2.970, and Rs 2.974, respectively, for the first year. The project is aimed at reducing carbon emission equivalent to approximately 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 per year. Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited is a joint venture of Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Ltd and SECI, is the implementation agency for the project. Power Grid Corporation of India has developed the 220/400 KV inter-state transmission system under green corridor to facilitate evacuation of power from the project site to consumers.
