The Ministry of Power (MoP) has issued guidelines for the procurement of round-the-clock (RTC) power from grid-connected renewable projects complemented with power from thermal power projects.
As per the guidelines, the generator shall supply despatchable renewable power complemented with thermal power, in RTC manner, keeping at least 85 per cent availability annually and also at least 85 per cent availability during the peak hours. Peak hours will be four hours out of 24 hours and clearly specified by the procurer beforehand in the bidding documents. The generator has to offer power such that at least 51 per cent of the annual energy offered corresponds to renewable energy power, and the balance is offered from thermal sources. The generator can combine storage for ensuring that it achieves the required minimum annual availability of 85 per cent. However, annually minimum 51 per cent of energy shall be offered from renewable energy sources.
