Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) and Sai Computers Limited have entered into a distribution franchisee agreement. The partnership is aimed towards providing better services to consumers and to increase operational efficiency and reduce AT&C losses in Kailashahar Electrical Divisions in Tripura. The agreement, signed is the presence of Dr. M.S. Kele, MD, TSECL is for five distribution divisions of Tripura.

Sai Computers Limited already operates one input-based distribution franchisee in the Dalu sub-division area in the state of Meghalaya. Since the commencement of DaluDF, the company has been able to be reduce AT&C losses to 45 per cent from 87 per cent and improve supply of energy to the consumers in a cyclone prone and hilly area. The company has experience of implementing advanced technologies across many utilities.

Power distribution franchisees are being promoted by the Government of India to involve private participation in power distribution with the objective of improving consumer service and reducing energy losses to a level of less than 15 per cent as per the National objective. Commencement of more such projects is expected to improve the financial position of state discoms in the future.
