The sale of renewable energy certificates (RECs) declined by 50 per cent to 0.35 million units in June 2020, compared to 0.70 million certificates sold in the same month in 2019.
A total of 0.23 million RECs were traded at the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) in June 2020, compared to 0.42 million in the same month of 2019. At Power Exchange of India (PXIL), sales of around 0.12 million RECs were reported in June 2020 as against 0.28 million earlier. IEX and PXIL data showed that RECs witnessed higher supply, with sell bids exceeding buy bids. Overall, there were buy bids for over 0.35 million RECs against sell bids for over 1.30 million RECs in June this year.
