US power to drop over 3 per cent in 2020 due coronavirus

According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), US electricity consumption will drop 3.4 per cent in 2020 as coronavirus lockdowns caused businesses to close.

EIA has projected that retail power sales will drop to 3,623 BUs in 2020 from 3,750 BUs in 2019 before rising to 3,655 BUs in 2021. This would be the biggest annual percentage decline since 2009 when sales fell 3.7 per cent and compared with an all-time high of 3,859 BUs in 2018.
