The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has granted a 30-day extension beyond the lockdown period for renewable energy (RE) projects.
In addition, this would be a blanket extension i.e. there will be no requirement of case-to-case examination and there will not be any need for evidence to grant such extension. Further, the ministry has added that all its RE implementing agencies will treat lockdown due to COVID-19, as force majeure. The decision was taken after RE developers represented to the ministry that they should be granted a general time extension and additional time for normalisation after such lockdown.
