A major fire broke out in one of the underground hydel power units of the 6×150 MW Srisailam project of Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited on August 20. The incident occurred at the fourth panel in the first hydel power unit of the left power house.
According to reports, a short circuit in one of the underground hydel power unit situated of Srisailam project led to the fire, trapping at least eight persons. Power generation operations at the power station have been suspended.
