Jordan and Saudi Arabian Energy Ministries sign MoU for connecting grid networks

Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the framework for connecting the power grids of both the countries, via 164-km-long line passing from Qurayyat (Saudi Arabia) to East Amman (Jordan).

The interconnection project will help Jordan become a regional hub for energy exchange and will also become the starting point of the comprehensive, planned Arab electricity interconnectivity scheme. The project will enhance the reliability of the electrical networks of Jordan and Saudi Arabia, increase the use of RE resources, and help in achieving optimal investments in electricity generation projects.
