KEC energises 400 kV Pugalur HVDC station–Arasur power line

KEC International, has energised the 400 kV Pugalur high voltage direct current (HVDC) station–Arasur transmission line, which forms part of the larger ±800 kV Raigarh–Pugalur HVDC transmission line project.

The scope of work entailed the construction of the 150-km-long Pugalur HVDC station– Arasur double-circuit transmission line, with an 80 MVAR switchable line reactor at the Arasur end. The larger Raigarh–Pugalur HVDC project entails the construction of a 1,838-km-long, HVDC bipole line, which will link Raigarh in Chhattisgarh to Pugalur in Tamil Nadu. The project is estimated to cost Rs 268.2 billion. On commissioning, the entire project will be capable of transporting up to 6,000 MW of electricity.
