UP government gives nod for e-charging facilities in eight cities

Under the smart city mission, eight cities in Uttar Pradesh have been identified for installation of e-charging facilities for two, three and four wheelers.

According to a recent proposal, the e-charging facilities under the smart city projects will be simultaneously launched in Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Aligarh, Saharanpur, Bareilly and Jhansi. In Prayagraj, the state government also plans to develop a new e-charging facility along with a bus charging station on an area of 6,000 metre square under the new Yamuna bridge. The new facility will house an e-charging facility for as many as 25 buses. The electric buses are likely to start services by next year. Prayagraj will have 25 slow charging stations.
