The Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission has reportedly received bids from Tata Power and India Power Corporation Limited (IPCL) for acquiring distribution licenses of Western Electricity Supply Company of Odisha (WESCO), Southern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha (SOUTHCO) and Northern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha (NESCO).
While Tata Power had reportedly submitted bids for all three discoms, IPCL has submitted bids for SOUTHCO and WESCO. Tata Power had earlier won the power distribution licence for four circles under the Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) in Odisha. The licence pertained to the circles of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Paradeep, and Dhenkanal in the CESU area.
