UP targets to increase power generation to 12 GW by 2022

The Uttar Pradesh energy department has set the target of increasing its power generation capacity by four times from the existing 3,200 MW to 12,734 MW by 2022.

According to state power minister, UP would add 1,320 MW by the end of this year. This would include a 660 MW unit each at the Meja and Harduaganj power projects. The Meja unit is being constructed under a joint venture with the NTPC at an estimated cost of 121.76 billion.
