Westinghouse signs expanded Ukraine nuclear fuel deal

Westinghouse Electric Co has signed an expanded nuclear fuel deal to supply Ukraine’s reactors.

It currently supplies six of 15 Ukraine’s VVER-1000 reactors with a seventh due to switch to it next year. The new contract, signed with the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom, adds two VVER-440 reactors at the Rivne nuclear power plant. The parties also signed a letter of intent regarding exploring localising fuel assembly component production.
