Australia’s ElectraNet receives funding approval for Eyre Peninsula Link

South Australian transmission company, ElectraNet Pty. Limited, recently received funding approval from the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) for the proposed, new high voltage (HV) transmission line for the Eyre Peninsula, known as Eyre Peninsula Link. .

In May 2020, ElectraNet submitted its funding application to the AER and the latest approval is the final regulatory approval required under the National Electricity Rules. The scope of the aforementioned project entails building a new double-circuit, 270-kmlong, 132 kV transmission line from Cultana to Port Lincoln, via Yadnarie, with the ability to upgrade the Cultana to Yadnarie section to 275 kV at a later date. Following the current approval and subject to obtaining the other required project approvals, the construction works are planned to commence in March 2021.
