Two units of Srisailam power plant affected by mishap resume operations

The first two units of the 6×150 MW Srisailam left bank hydropower station in Telangana that was damaged in a major fire incident on August 20, 2020 have resumed operations.

Experimental run of units 1 and 2 was taken up for short durations in phases on October 22 and 23, 2020 for checking their vital parameters and, after their synchronisation with the grid on October 23 evening, they had been on trial run till October 26 morning, when they were switched off for the formal re-launch. Units 3, 5 and 6 would be revived and made generation-ready over the next three months. Unit 4, which was badly damaged in the fire, would be restored by May-end. The fourth unit was where the fire broke out on August 20.
