KSEBL approaches Kerala high court against regulation changes by CERC

Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEBL) has approached the Kerala high court against the regulation changes introduced by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) towards calculating the interstate transmission line charges.

The board has expressed apprehensions that the new regulations announced by the CERC in the way charges are calculated for the use of transmission lines, which would result in a huge financial liability on Kerala. According to KSEB, its bills would increase from Rs 5.50 billion to Rs 10 billion and further to Rs 15 billion in another few months under the new regulations which are expected to be effective from November 1, 2020.
