The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has specified the pooled cost of power purchase payable by the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) for 2020-21 as Rs.4.37 per unit.
The power purchase amount so determined is subject to the maximum of 75 per cent of the preferential tariff fixed by the commission to that category/sub-category of non-conventional energy sources (NCES) generators, that is, Rs 4.37 per unit or 75 per cent of the preferential tariff fixed by the commission to that category/sub-category of NCES generators, whichever is less. This order will be deemed to be effective from April 1, 2020. In another order, commission has decided that procurement of wind power by the distribution licensee, for compliance of renewable purchase obligation (RPO) requirement, shall be through the competitive bidding route under section 63 of the Electricity Act 2003 following the bidding guidelines issued by the central government by adopting ceiling tariffs that are obtained in the tariff based competitive bidding (TBCB) process conducted by SECI and approved by the commission for adoption. This order will be effective from October 7, 2020 and the control period of this order will be until March 31, 2022 and the tariff period shall be as per the bidding guidelines
