Germany’s Siemens Energy has announced that it is withdrawing from all new coal projects and would no longer bid for tenders for pure coal-fired projects.
The withdrawal only relates to new business with pure coal-fired power plants and not to existing projects, service or ongoing tenders. The company would continue to offer bridging technologies like gas-fired plants and components for efficient combined heat and power (CHP), waste heat and biomass co-firing projects as also continue its CO2-reducing service and solutions business.
