Solar power tariff records an all-time low of Rs 2 per unit

Under the auction conducted by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for 1,070 MW of solar power projects, the tariff discovered reached an all-time low of Rs 2 per unit.  

Saudi Arabian firm Aljoemaih Energy and Water Co and Sembcorp Energy India arm Green Infra Wind Energy Limited emerged as the lowest bidders by quoting the lowerst tariff of Rs 2 per unit for 200 MW and 400 MW capacities, respectively. NTPC Limited, which was the second highest bidder, quoted a price of Rs 2.01 per unit. It will be awarded the balance amount of 470 MW capacity under the bucket fill method. The earlier lowest tariff discovered stood at Rs 2.36 per unit in an auction of 2 GW capacities by SECI in June this year.
