Himachal Pradesh seeks effective plan for power evacuation from Chenab basin and Spiti

During RE-Invest 2020, the Himachal Pradesh government has requested the central government to ask the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited to prepare an effective plan for power evacuation from Chenab basin and Spiti of the state.

The state government has identified a renewable energy potential of 6,000 MW in Chenab basin as well as Spiti area. Power projects have been allocated for execution to SJVN Limited, NTPC Limited and NHPC Limited on Chenab river basin. In addition, an 880 MW mega solar park has been allocated to SJVN in Spiti for development. The state is also working on Green Gaushala scheme, in which self-sufficient biogas would be produced by fully harnessing solar power. Effective evacuation plan was required to evacuate power from these areas.
