Andhra power tariffs will not be hiked for second year

The Andhra Pradesh government will not increase electricity tariffs in the state for the second consecutive year. 

The government is taking all possible steps to improve the financial and operational performance of power utilities. As part of this, the government has released Rs 179.04 billion in 2019-20 and till date in this fiscal towards clearing pending subsidy arrears of the discoms as on March 31, 2019. Further, the government has allocated Rs 83.53 billion for the free power scheme, Rs 7.17 billion towards subsidised power to aqua farmers and Rs 17.07 billion towards domestic subsidy.
