Hitachi ABB bags SCMS contract from UAE’s DEWA

The United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has awarded Hitachi ABB Power Grid with a five-year contract for the supply of a substation control and monitoring system (SCMS) for 33 substations in Dubai.

The contract broadly involves the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 15 new substations, and the refurbishment and upgradation of 18 existing substations across Dubai. Hitachi ABB will also supply MicroSCADA, which is the most advanced power automation solution, along with the Relion family of intelligent electronic devices (IED), for the protection, control, measurement and supervision of power systems. Through the framework agreement, Hitachi ABB will supply the latest SCMS equipped with an advanced cybersecurity solution, which is designed to increase grid reliability and safety.
