The Maharashtra government has approved a renewable energy policy for adding 17,385 MW renewable energy capacity by 2025 in the state. Â
Of the targeted capacity addition, about 12,930 MW will be accounted by solar. Other sources include: wind- 2,500 MW, bagasse and agricultural waste- 1,350 MW, small hydroelectric- 380 MW, municipal solid waste- 200 MW and new technologies- 25 MW. An investment worth Rs 750 billion is expected in this sector in the coming five years.
