Saudi’s SEC awards transmission contracts worth SAR1.3 billion

Of the five contracts three are transmission line contracts valued at SAR1,031 million and two are static synchronous condenser (STATCOM) contracts valued at SAR253.7 million. Al Haider for Trading and Contracting (Al Haider) bagged a SAR126.5 million contract for the construction of 130-km-long, 380 kV double-circuit overhead transmission line (OHTL). A joint venture comprising of Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited (KPTL) and Saudi-based Bin Omairah bagged a SAR234.1 million contract for the construction of 185-km-long, 380 kV double-circuit OHTL. Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) bagged a SAR671 million contract for the construction two 30 kV OHTL. Alfanar Construction signed a contract worth SAR138.7 million for the installation of a dynamic reactive power compensator (DRPC) (STATCOM technology) at the existing 380 kV Najran substation. Siemens signed a SAR115 million contract for the installation of DRPC (STATCOM technology) at the 380 kV Kudimi substation.
