Cabinet approves Rs 52.81 billion investment for 850 MW Ratle hydro power project

The union cabinet has given its approval for an investment of Rs 52.81 billion in the 850 MW Ratle hydro electric project. The project will be located on river Chenab in Kishtwar, Jammu Kashmir. It will be developed by a new joint venture company to be incorporated between NHPC Limited and Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation Limited (JKSPDC) with an equity contribution of 51 per cent and 49 per cent respectively. …

The government is also supporting Jammu and Kashmir by providing a grant of Rs 7.76 billion for an equity contribution of JKSPDC in the JVC to be set up for construction of Ratle hydro electric project. NHPC will invest its equity of Rs 8.08 billion from its internal resources. The project is expected to be commissioned within a span of 60 months.
