The union cabinet has given its approval for an investment of Rs 52.81 billion in the 850 MW Ratle hydro electric project. The project will be located on river Chenab in Kishtwar, Jammu Kashmir. The government is also supporting Jammu and Kashmir by providing a grant of Rs 7.76 billion for an equity contribution of JKSPDC in the JVC to be set up for construction of Ratle hydro electric project. NHPC will invest its equity of Rs 8.08 billion from its internal resources. The project is expected to be commissioned within a span of 60 months.
