China launches carbon emissions trading scheme

China has launched a carbon trading system to reduce the emissions, as a part of its efforts to meet the carbon neutrality pledge by 2060. …

The scheme would cover 2,267 power plants, which last year produced almost 40 per cent of the country’s annual carbon dioxide emissions. Subsequently, businesses in a given industry that emit a minimum of 24,000 tons of carbon equivalent will be eligible to enter the carbon trading market.
