Nepal’s first 400 kV GIS substation commissioned at Dhalkebar

Nepal’s first 400 kV gas insulated substation at Dhalkebar which facilitated the 400 kV Muzaffarpur (India)-Dhalkebar (Nepal) line has been commissioned by engineering firm Linxon. …

The project on completion is expected to facilitate transmission of up to 1000 MW of electricity through the first high voltage cross-border transmission line of Nepal. It will be an important hub for cross border power exchange between Nepal and India. It will thus help facilitate the export of surplus power generated to India while meeting the increasing demand for electricity in Nepal. The GIS will also ease transmission of electricity across Nepal along the east-west axis.
