Sun Cable (Singapore) and the Australian NTG sign agreement for Australian-ASEAN link

Singapore-based Sun Cable has signed an agreement with Australian Northern Territory Government (NTG) for the Australian-ASEAN Power Link (AAPL).

The AAPL would comprise a 10 GW photovoltaic solar farm and a 30 GWh battery storage facility in the Northern Territory. There will also be a 4,500 km voltage direct current transmission system via Darwin to Singapore. The AAPL will first supply electricity to Darwin by 2026 and Singapore by 2027. Eventually, the HVDC transmission system would extend to Indonesia. The project cost is approximately $21.3b. It is expected to reach financial closure in 2023.
