Philippine NGCP seeks ERC approval for capex worth PHP262 billion

The utility has filed three petitions with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to approve its various capex projects lined up from 2020 to 2025. The petition has been filed for three separate groups of projects. Groups 1, 2 and 3 entail projects worth PHP93.38 billion, PHP24.28 billion and PHP112.9 billion respectively. Broken down per island grid, NGCP is spending the most on upgrades and expansion in the Luzon grid at PHP159.23 billion, followed by Visayas at PHP38.89 billion and Mindanao at PHP32.65 billion. Some of the major projects include the 230 kV Northern Luzon Loop project; the 500 kV Nagsaag─Santiago, Bolo─Balaon and Balaon─Laoag transmission line projects; and the 500 kV Western Luzon Backbone project among others.
