JPVL’s Vishnuprayag hydropower project resumes operations in Uttarakhand

Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited has resumed operations at its 400 MW Vishnuprayag hydro electric project in Uttarakhand on March, 11 2021. Earlier the project had to be closed as a precaution in view of flash floods in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand last month.

After the glacier breaking off incident on February 7, JPVL had announced the closing its 400 MW Vishnuprayag hydroelectric project saying the sudden development of the ‘force majeure’ event led to the closure of the power generation at the plant. The company resumed operations after it carried out extensive cleaning and thorough checking of all elements of the project.
