Power distribution utilities (discoms) have received Rs 463,210 million as loans under the liquidity infusion scheme of AatmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan from REC Limited and Power Finance Corporation (PFC).
Under this scheme which was launched in the backdrop of the pandemic on May 13, 2020, a total of Rs 1,354,970 million loan has been sanctioned so far. REC and PFC have extended special long-term transition loans at concessional rates to the discoms against the receivables of the discoms from the state government, under the scheme. The scheme is expected to help discoms clear their outstanding dues towards central public sector undertaking (CPSU) generation and transmission companies, renewable energy generators and independent power producers (IPPs).
