Coal India records all-time high capex of Rs 131.15 billion during 2020-21

Coal India Limited’s (CIL) capex grew more than two-folds to hit an all-time high of Rs 131.15 billion in 2020-21.

The entire capital expenditure was funded through internal resources. CIL’s original sanctioned capex budget was Rs 100 billion for 2020-21. The capex included procurement of heavy earth moving machinery at Rs 34.53 billion. This move comes on the back of central government’s advise to CPSEs of the country to scale up their expenditure to boost the economy. In 2019-20, CIL had incurred a capex of Rs 62.70 billion.
