Thailand to float hydro-solar hybrid projects on its dam

Thailand is set to completeone of the world’s biggest floating hydro-solar hybrid projects. This is a step toward boosting renewable energy production in the country after years of criticism for reliance on fossil fuels.

The project is spread over 121 hectares on the surface of a dam, with installations of about144,417 solar panels on a reservoir in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand. The project is expected to be complete by June 2021.Electricity Generation Authority of Thailand (EGAT)aims to replicate it at eight more dams over the next 16 years.
