SGCC completes transformer development for 1,000 kV substation project in China

State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) has almost completed the development of a 1,000 MVA transformer required for the 1,000 kV Jinzhong substation expansion project. …

The aforementioned substation is one of the 13 key projects in the 14th Five-Year Plan of China’s power development and is an important part of the ultra-high voltage AC grid planned by SGCC. The said substation is located on the west side of Xishanhu Village, Hongshan Town in Pingyao County, with an expansion main transformer scale of 1×3,000 MVA. The transformer is expected to be ready for operation by June 2021.
