CILsigns PPA for100 MW solar power

Coal India Limited (CIL) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the sale of 100 MW solar powertoGujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL)for a period of 25 years.

It is CIL’s first venture into solar power. The project was secured by CIL in a reverse auction conducted by GUVNL in March 2021. With a capital investment of Rs 4.42 billion, CIL will execute the 100 MW project through a solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC)contractor,for which tender has already been issued. The project will be executed within one year from the date of placement of the work order.CIL targets to use solar power as an alternative green energy source and has rolled out a plan for 3,000 MW of solar power generation by 2024.
