Construction of 300 MW solar power project begins in Saudi Arabia

Renewable energy (RE) consortium, led by Masdar along with EDF Renewables and Nesma Company have started the construction of 300 MW photovoltaic solar power project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The project was awarded to the consortium after it had submitted the lowest bid of $ 16.24 per MWh. The power purchase agreement for 25 years was signed with Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC), in January 2021 and the plant is expected to start operations from 2022. According to the PPA, the consortium will be responsible for designing, financing, building and operating the plant.
