Vietnam’s EVNNPT operationalises 220 kV digital substation

State-owned Electricity of Vietnam’s (EVN) subsidiary, National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), has operationalised the first 220 kV digital substation in the Thuy Nguyen district of the northern port city of Hai Phong. …

The substation was built at a cost of USD15 million on an area of 40,100 square metres spanning the Dong Son and Kenh Giang communes, and will improve power supply in Thuy Nguyen and its surrounding areas by enabling reduced power losses, and enhanced connectivity, safety, stability and flexibility in the operation of the power system. EVN plans to digitalise all the equipment on transmission lines and 80 per cent of 110 kV circuit facilities by 2022. By 2025, the utility has plans to have fully digitalised equipment for medium- and highervoltage power lines.
