Delhi discoms prepare to meet high peak demand of electricity

Due to the rising temperatures in Delhi, the discoms are preparing to meet the increasing demand for electricity in the summer season.

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) has estimated a peak demand of 2,150 MW this summer for north Delhi, the area it caters to. It has made preparations for up to 2,400 MW. Likewise, the BSES discoms are geared-up on all aspects to meet the demand of over 4.5 million consumers and around 18 million residents in south, west, east and central Delhi.Delhi had witnessed a record peak power demand of 7,409MW in 2019 and 6,314MW in 2020.
