The state-owned Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited (PGCB) has signed an agreement with Indian engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) major, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), for the construction of various transmission lines under the Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded ‘Dhaka and Western Zone Transmission Grid Expansion Project’.
ADB, Government of Bangladesh and PGCB will jointly finance the contract, valued at BDT5.09 billion. The scope of work includes construction of the 230 kV Satkhira— Rupsha, 132 kV Satkhira—Monirampur, 132 kV Kaliganj—Maheshpur and 132 kV Kushtia—Meherpur transmission lines. According to the agreement, L&T will be undertaking turnkey works for the aforementioned projects and will hand over the lines to PGCB within the next 36 months after completion of construction.
