The Forum of Regulators (FoR) has suggested that the central government should share the cost of stranded power with the state governments to reduce the burden on financially stressed discoms.
In addition, central funding should cover the fixed cost being paid by the states for the generation assets that are no longer functional. As per a recent report by FoR, the states across the country are bearing a cost of about Rs 174.42 billion on account of stranded generation assets.
