Powergrid commissions over 500 ckm of transmission lines in April 2021

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) has commissioned an aggregate of 519 ckm of transmission lines and 1,715 MVA of substation capacity in April 2021.

A key project commissioned in April 2021 was the Rajasthan-located 765kV Ajmer-Phagi (double- circuit) line spanning 268 ckm. PGCIL also commissioned 400kV Darbhanga-Sitamarhi D/C line (second circuit) of 80 ckm and 400kV D/C Sitamarhi (New) –Motihari transmission lines of 171 ckm in April 2021. In addition, Powergrid also commissioned the 1,400 MVA Sitamarhi substation (400/220/132kV) in Bihar. This substation is an important element of Eastern Region System Strengthening Scheme (ERSS)-XXI. It marks the completion of two of the three new substations planned under the transmission scheme. Work on one new substation, as well as extension work on two existing substations, is currently underway.
